Audible – I always enjoy reading filmmaking books, but sometimes I don’t have the time to sit and read a book. GoodInARoom – Stephanie Palmer is a former MGM Pictures executive and a best-selling author. She will help you become a professional screenwriter. Get producers to hire you, convince stars to attach themselves and persuade executives to buy your work.
Creativelive.com – I’ve taken a number of courses from creativelive.com and I learned a tremendous amount from real professionals getting real results. Each course is typically 2-3 days long. For the amount of knowledge you gain and for the cost of each course which is around $99 on average, I highly recommend checking it out. CreativeLive began as an online course for photographers, but quickly became much more than that. Even the well-known YouTube sensation Ryan Connolly from Filmriot.com has a course called Guerilla Filmmaking that teaches you the nuts and bolts of filmmaking. Among other very valuable courses filmmakers should watch regarding financing, marketing and distribution.
DigitalTutors – I learned a tremendous amount from DigitalTutors. A lot of the movies I make are visual effects heavy projects, so it requires a lot of know-how within post production such as, camera tracking, color grading, special effects, compositing, animation, etc. On top of that, you can learn a TON about basic video editing, compositing in Adobe Premiere, After Effects or even Final Cut Pro. I highly recommend DigitalTutors.
ToolFarm – Aside from the fact that they offer an array of plugins for all sorts of software you may be using. They also have an incredible tutorials section that shows you exactly how to use these plugins for your project. And it’s FREE!
Filmora – Filmora is a fantastic video editor for beginners or experts who want to create amazing creative videos quick and easy. It offers basic editing tools to more advanced tools for the more experienced editors. Try out their free trial and give it a shot.
